17 Hollywood Movies You Should Watch in 2015

It seems as though 2015 is set to be a great year for movies, as we see a whole line-up of sequels which have got audiences at the edge of their seats even before they have made it to the cinema theatres to watch the movies. Whether big-budget movies are your cup of tea or independent underdog projects, this year has it all, however those into independent movies may be a little disappointed with our list of the must-watch movies that we have listed for 2015. Hint- there are no independent movies listed.

However, we have listed all of the biggest big-screen releases for 2015, which are most likely to reach commercial success. Here at Augustus Worth we like to think that every year of Hollywood movie releases is another year where there is the opportunity for a movie to snap the top spot away from Avatar (2012 movie, directed by James Cameron) which sits at the top of the box office list for the highest worldwide grossing movies of all time. Hint- the movie would need to have a worldwide gross of more than $2.8 billion.

Thinking of which movie/s you should watch in 2015? Then look no further, as this list has all of the latest and greatest up-and-coming releases for 2015, the hottest year for movies.

Starting from our most-anticipated movie, down to our least anticipated, here are 2015's hottest movies.

1. Jurassic World

Release Date: 12th June 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

There is little difficulty imagining which movie should go at the top of the list for us, as Jurassic World has been a movie we've been waiting to release for some time, and after over a decade we're more-than ready for another Jurassic movie.

Directed by a little-known director, Colin Trevorrow (directed the critically-renowned independent movie, Safety Not Guaranteed, 2012), whom would by no means be the first choice director for a big-budget risk like Jurassic World, but we get the feeling that he's done a good job. Plus, with Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer and Jake Johnson starring in the movie, it could quite easily be the biggest hit of 2015.

2. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Release Date: 1st May, 2015 (U.S.), 24th April, 2015 (U.K.)

After its predecessor The Avengers ended with a worldwide gross of $1.5 billion, there is no doubt in anyone's mind that 'Age of Ultron' is going to be a mega hit this year, as it is highly-anticipated by Marvel fans worldwide, and the trailer couldn't have done a better job at building our excitement for this Avengers sequel.

3. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

Release Date: 18th December, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

Finally, a sequel has arrived for Star Wars and who better to deliver the sequel than the magic which is brought to children and adults all around the world from the hit movie studio, Walt Disney (proud owner of Marvel).

Directed by the sci-fi lover, J.J. Abrams, it is hard to think of someone more suited to directing the Star Wars sequel. The movie has built up a lot of anticipation, especially among fans of the previous Star Wars movies and the sci-fi genre in general.

4. Terminator: Genisys

Release Date: 1st July, 2015 (U.S.), 3rd July, 2015 (U.K.)

When a movie studio tells you that Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to be reprising his role as the terminator, you listen and respond. Personally, the idea of Arnold returning to the Terminator series sounds like a brilliant movie already, even before hearing anything about the movies plot or other cast members.

Anyone else excited to see Arnold back as the terminator again? (leave responses in the comments box below).

5. Spectre (latest James Bond film)

source: hyperconnectes.fr (CC image)
Release Date: 6th November, 2015 (U.S.), 23rd October, 2015 (U.K.)

The latest up-and-coming Bond film was originally titled Bond 24, which sounded like absolute rubbish considering the previous Bond film had a cool title, Skyfall. But excitement (and anticipation) returned when it was announced that the actual film name was Spectre, so fear not ladies and gentlemen.

The story sounds quite gripping for the latest 007 film, keeping the mystery a mystery until we've all seen the movie. Given that Skyfall raised the bar quite substantially, it should be interesting to see the outcome for Spectre. Interesting fact- Christoph Waltz stars as the villain in Spectre, and just when you thought the villainous character couldn't become more interesting in a 007 film.

6. Furious 7

Release Date: 3rd April, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

With 6 predecessors in the film series already, one wonders where they could possibly take the series where they haven't already taken it. But then again, when there are cars racing, guns shooting and bare-knuckle fighting, we all feel it best to shut-up and simply watch the movie. Hence, the reason action movies are the biggest box office draw.

7. American Sniper

Release Date: 21st December, 2014 (U.S.), 16th January, 2015 (U.K.)

Based on a true story and with an Oscar winning performance from the 2 time Academy Award nominated actor, Bradley Cooper its not exactly difficult to see why this is a movie not to be missed in 2015. We only hope that Bradley Cooper wins the Oscar this time. Not to mention, the director is Clint Eastwood, a name we all recognise and whose work we all appreciate.

8. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

Release Date: 20th November, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

The series finale is here, and all we can do is wait until the release of hopefully the best ending to any film series that has ever come before it. With more battles than ever before in an all out war for peace, this is going to one film to watch in winter this year.

9. Inside Out

source: youtube.com (CC image)
Release Date: 19th June, 2015 (U.S.), 24th July, 2015 (U.K.)

The first animated movie to make its way onto the list, brought to us from Disney Pixar, the studio known for delivering some of the greatest movies ever made in film history. The movie looks to be the greatest animated movie for 2015, if the trailer is anything to go by. Directed by Pete Docter, the mind behind (and director of) Monsters, Inc. and Up.

10. Mad Max: Fury Road

source: moviepilot.com (CC image)
Release Date: 15 May, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

In this remake of a classic, starring the great Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and some other interesting actors, this could be one of the best movies for 2015.

11. Ted 2

source: whatculture.com (CC image)
Release Date: 26th June, 2015 (U.S.), 10th July, 2015 (U.K.)

The hilarious Ted sequel is coming this year, and Seth MacFarlane has assured fans that it is set to be even funnier than the first with some new Hollywood A-list faces entering into the cast, including Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman. As well as the return of Mark Wahlberg and the voice of Seth MacFarlane (for the voice of Ted).

12. The Divergent Series: Insurgent

source: kulturelmasi.com (CC image)
Release Date: 20th March, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

Following the success of Twilight and the Hunger Games series, we now have the sequel to the latest teen fantasy hit series to look forward to, Insurgent. Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet will be reprising their roles in the movie, and as far it looks to be an interesting movie among the releases for 2015.

13. Mission: Impossible 5

source: bestnews1.com (CC image)
Release Date: 25th December, 2015 (U.S.), 26th December, 2015 (U.K.)

The mission: impossible is back in 2015, and it looks as though it could be an interesting sequel following the brilliant Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which was arguably one of the best Missions: Impossible's to-date. Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and the rest of the mission: impossible team will be reprising their roles for the sequel.

14. The Fantastic Four

source: artasylum.com (CC image)
Release Date: 7th August, 2015 (U.S.), 6th August, 2015 (U.K.)

In the reboot of the 2005, Fantastic Four film, we see a whole new director and line-up of cast for the film which is set to release this year. Just another Marvel film to watch out for at your local cinema theatre.

15. Fifty Shades of Grey

source: arccinema.ie (CC image)
Release Date: 13th February, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

Based on the best-selling erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, the book is getting its big-screen adaptation which is due out for release in 2015, this year.

16. Ant-Man

source: youoogle.co.uk (CC image)
Release Date: 17th July, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

To further the list of Marvel films to watch out for in 2015, we have Ant-Man. A little different from the other Marvel films, but still just as anticipated all the same.

and the least likely to appear on a highly-anticipated list of movies for 2015, but we remain hopeful for...

17. Hitman: Agent 47

source: beyondhollywood.com (CC image)
Release Date: 28th August, 2015 (U.S. & U.K.)

A remake of the 2007 film, Hitman, with a whole new set of cast and a director, Aleksander Bach, who is making his directorial début with the film. Although a gamble, we feel that this could be a great movie, even with an unknown director and a cast of relatively unknown actors and actresses, as great movies cannot be weighed upon the fame of the stars behind the movie, but rather the quality of the movies making.

Did we miss out your most-anticipated movie for 2015? Then let us know the name of the movie in the comments box below, as we'd love to hear from you.
